Little Red Riding Hood: The Wicked Story of the Past

There is a little girl who lives with her mother and is loved by everyone, especially her grandmother. Her grandmother loves her so much that she gives everything to the precious child, including the red hooded cloak which she often wears as it suits her very well. So, she got the name “Little Red Riding Hood” from it. One day, her mom sent her to visit her sick grandmother. “Little Red Riding Hood, come and give this cake and wine to your grandmother. She is sick and this will help her feel well,” her mom said. So, the little girl went out to go to her grandmother’s house. On her way there, she met a cunning wolf who tricked her into saying the place of her grandmother. The wolf also told the little girl to pick some flowers around first for her mother and enjoy nature as the birds sing and the woods are merry. Little Red Riding Hood followed what the wolf had said, unaware of the consequences of her decision. So, while the little girl is taking her time, the wolf goes to the grandmother’s house first and devours her while she’s in bed.

It turns out that long ago when Little Red Riding Hood was born, her mother and father were delighted to see her. They promised each other that they would give the best life to the little girl. Her mother will stay at home to guide her, while her father will work for them to sustain their needs. A day came when her father went on a normal day to go deep in the woods to hunt. Her father accidentally shot an old house and it went crumbling down. While the father approaches the broken house, a wicked woman, a witch, suddenly appears, furious and raging. “How dare you shatter my precious house!” said the woman. By then she cast a spell that the man’s life would be broken just like how he broke her house. “Through my power shall you be a wolf ‘til I am still alive!” To make it worse, the witch also killed the man’s mother, Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother because of her rage. She also planned to take down his wife and child next but the man shouted, “No! Not my family!” The witch stopped in her tracks and thought. “I’ll take that for now, man. But you will see how I kill them slowly!” The witch laughed hysterically.

Little Red Riding Hood and her mother became worried as days passed and still, there was no trace of his father. On the other hand, the witch stole the grandmother’s identity as still part of her revenge on the man. “Oh no… it may be sad but let us accept that your father is already dead,” she said to the little girl before. So, Little Red Riding Hood and her mother slowly continued their life without the man, and the witch as the grandmother unknowingly. One day, the witch planned to kill the girl that day already so she pretended to be sick. The wolf, or the man, knew this and couldn’t let it happen, so he guarded Little Red Riding Hood and asked her to pick some flowers first to give him time to kill the grandmother, the witch. His plan went successfully and as the witch slowly lost her life, the wolf suddenly changed into a man again, into the little girl’s father. Little Red Riding Hood was surprised, thrilled, and saddened to see the scene as she opened the door. All emotions all at once were felt by the poor little girl. However, her father calmed him down and slowly explained what happened. Little Red Riding Hood and her mother still could not believe it but slowly accepted the fact that things happen beyond what they knew about. As time passed by, the family adjusted again and lived happily ever after. They realized that as things happen so fast, there may be times when something happens not in our control. But we should not dwell on the past and accept what the present has for us.
